I am sure most of you have heard about the untimely death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, and that is most likely a heroin overdose, but his death is one of many in the past year and a half or so that has been linked back to a heroin overdose.

While it may not seem like a women’s issue, I do believe it is a human issue, and it the implications of heroin addiction, or any addiction can be far reaching, and cause lots of heartaches for those who watch this person suffer.

I have had people I care about suffer from heroin addiction, and these people were victims of abuse and violence and it was the only thing that made them feel like they could get through the day.

Addiction of any sort is a tragedy and often leads instances of abuse, assault (physical and sexual) and/or poverty.  It is something to keep in mind as these rates of heroin use rise.
